"The Big Trash Extravaganza"
October 22, 2013
The idea to improve recycling and reduce the amount of trash generated at CHS is not a new idea. Students from last semester's Foods Class were motivated enough to bring their enthusiasm and energy to help plan and implement a waste audit at CHS today. The last audit of a days worth of CHS trash was in 2009. The goal of today was to gather and compare the data to 2009. As a school, where are we now? Next, where do we want to go to further reduce, reuse, recycle and compost our waste?
This "Extravaganza" was possible because of the help of this semesters Foods Class, maintenance, several science teachers, buckets from teachers around the school, PE department, art department, kitchen staff, administration, office staff, a fourth grade MBS class, a former CHS graduate volunteer and an educator from Chittenden Solid Waste District. Many thanks to everyone else who help with the day.
